Employers have a responsibility to those employees who use visual display units (computer monitors) to publicise Health and Safety regulations relating to Display Screen Equipment as well as providing the following:

• Full eye examination eye sight tests by a qualified optometrist, as screening tests alone do not satisfy the requirements.
• Follow up eye tests at routine interval as indicated by individual circumstances and the recommendation of the optometrist.
• Eye tests for new employees.
• Corrective spectacles for employees when required for VDU use only.
